My winter trek over Milesovka

What do you do when you live in Prague, Czech Republic, you just have a day off and you yearn for a good mountain hike? The closest to home for me is the picturesque range called Ceske stredohori, or Central Bohemian Highlands, about 100 kilometers north of Prague. Its highest mountain is Milesovka, 837 m. Although nowhere near the Tatras or Alps in terms of the altitude, it is nevertheless a beautiful conical mountain of volcanic origin. With its actual rise of about 400 meters above the surrounding terrain, Milesovka dominates the landscape of this region. There is a meteorological observatory and a lookout tower on the somewhat crowded summit. During the summer season the mountain gets a bit busy, but at the time of my trek I didn't meet a soul. Just knee-deep snow and quiet everywhere.
