Alternate Cascade Gulch route ?

Curious to know other people's experience with the Cascade Gulch route on Shasta. The red line shows one possibility I was considering - superimposed on a pic taken 13-April-2008. At the upper end it would join up with the exit of West Face Gully. The lower end would start from the Shasta-Shastina saddle.
