why this was placed here? Was it a memorial for someone, or in those days were there outdoor church services or something? Really curious!

I think its a memorial cross and the memorial was placed in the round device in the middle. It should be an old cross, probably end on 19th century judging by the style, with the baroque puttos and the renaissance work on it it should be "Historismus", 1880 - 1900 roundabout. Thats my guess.
I am asking myself every year if it is still there and not stolen and I hope it will be present and waiting for me some more years.
