An almost unrecognizable Punta d'Arbola from the Ghiacciaio del Sabbione, not far from Passo del Vannino

The summit is somewhere int he middle, in that cloud. The weather started to deteriorate shortly before I started my ascent, a couple of hours earlier. The summit was still visible then, but by the time I got there I was in a whiteout. I carefully followed my own trail back down. But now that I'm a bit lower - I estimate some 400 m below the summit - I'm below the clouds again, and it doesn't look all that bad. The prominent rocky spire on the right is the base of the NW ridge. On the left is the easy west face, which I had planned to descend from the summit, after making my way up a bit more from the right. But with the whiteout, I didn't want to go take a wrong turn and descend the wrong slope - there are cliffs to fall off! 27 June 2013.
