Long day  Sucess!

Started at Anthony Gap. Followed a road up to the Anthony Gap Cave area, then headed down to a wash. Followed the wash for just a short distance before a started up a ridge. I followed that ridge up and down (mostly up)for a long time, while dodging the plentiful lechuguilla. I was glad to be back to the car 8 hours after I started.

long hike in  Sucess!

Hiked from one of the elementary schools in Anthony. About 4 miles before even getting to the base of the mountain. Still a fun hike and almost fell when climbing a cliff.

Hiked from west  Sucess!

Hiked up a finger to the Franklin Ridge from the Schafer Shuffle Trail at Tom Mays. Then hiked south and exited down Aztec Cave trail. I haven't been able to find the best trail from Hwy 404 to Anthony's nose from the NM-TX state line yet...someday though.

Picking the Nose  Sucess!

Climbed this many times as a teen, who knew what would come of such humble beginnings?

Unconventional Challenge  Sucess!

Unlike a fall in most mountain environments, a fall on Anthony's Nose would result in multiple stabbings. Very dangerous and no rope would help. Even so, it was a good "extreme" desert climb and it was nice to see the plant life so healthy.

Quite a hike  Sucess!

Our hike was probably about five miles in length, but it took us over six hours car-to-car. This was a great day in the mountains that involved a lot of interesting route finding. We picked our way around, over, and through cactus and rock outcroppings and were extremely happy when we reached the soft sand of an arroyo on our descent. I was quite impressed by the grandness of the north face. A quality climb!
