More details

Here is a good article about Dhaulagiri:

Also:

It's better to allow more than 20 days to complete this trek. Check this out:

Re: More details

Not that it matters - but I opted not to include KTM sightseeing and getting there/back days in my description - to go from Beni to Nayapul took about 20 trail days, exactly as your itinerary has it.

I had read the "appalled" article before going (on Project Himalaya website) - I think it is a must read for anyone considering this trek. Thank you for attaching it.

Best of luck...

When memories comes back...

Thanks for this nice page, which brought back to my memory my first encounter with the Himalaya 15 years ago. At that time, we (2 persons) made the trek around Dhaulagiri without any support, spending time in the villages and camping along the route. The only foreigners we saw were climbers at Dhaulagiri BC.

To avoid the crowds in the Kali Gandaki and make a complete tour around Anapurna, a nice option is to climb directly towards Tilicho lake from Marpha village. I found it a very beautiful alternative at that time.
