Arriving at the Iffigsee lake

This is the sight that opens up suddenly, and more and more while continuing along the path, after a 500-meter-ascent from Iffigenalp.

Viewed full size is great

Lovely colour in the lake, and I guess some food available at the Alpen Haus?

From the UK, I was not familiar with these lovely rest stops in the mountains. But so good to be able to stop and get some hot food.

Re: Viewed full size is great

Thanks for the comment you wrote - one that I really appreciate! Glad you took the time to open up to full size, and see the difference. I may seem a bit nagging sometimes with all of my "best viewed full size", "this should be opened to full size", "enlarge for more detail" etc., but, as you've confirmed, it is for a reason...

Alas - in the little mountain hut on the picture there is no catering at all, it's a place where cows are kept. For having a meal and a drink you have to walk on for about an hour to the Wildhorn hut. That one (see also the photos I posted; you'll find them - I'm ashamed to say so - way at the rear end of my gallery! :-( ) is a Swiss Alpine Club hut, where you can also stay over night and for instance go up the Wildhorn the next morning - it's supposed to be a fantastic hike. Having been already two times on it's neighbor, the Wildstrubel (look up the mountain page), I fully believe it!

Your pictures...

are simply amazing. I sign on sometimes and just look at your pictures haha. I didn't know which one to comment! Being from a small town, I really want to get out and see the world...and Europe is definitely going to be one of my stops! Cheers

Re: Your pictures...

Thanks a lot, beaudittl - gosh - I don't know what to say! ;-))))))) It's so nice to be appreciated like this!! Don't miss all the other galleries here on SP though, either - there is SO much incredible photography to be seen, from your country as well as from the european ones!
I just browsed through your gallery - you've put up some very nice images already! I especially like the photo you took of that gorge in the winter snow. You should start attaching them now to mountain pages or areas/ranges pages, I would say as many appropriate ones as you can find, so that they don't get "submerged" in all the new stuff that comes in every single day.
Many cheers and happy trails out there (I always love that expression - haha!),
Eric
