Overview

On June 17, 2012, I (Andrew Laskowski) summited an unnamed non-technical peak in the southern Lopu Kangri (Loinbo Kangri) range (5874 m). This climb occurred during an expedition to conduct geological field work. We were camped at three locations around the Lopu Kangri range for over one month. I was accompanied at base camp by Devon Orme, Kate Metcalf, Paul Kapp, three Tibetan drivers, and a geology student from the Institute for Tibetan Plateau Research (Beijing). I hiked up a river from the northeast side of the range, then ascended to the southeast ridge that reaches the summit.

Getting There

We worked with Shigatse Travels out of Lhasa, Tibet (contact: Renee). We traveled to the region via Land Cruiser.
