At The Summit Of Black Mountain

Me, giving my standard State Highpoint salute to my favorite hockey team, from the summit of Black Mountain, the highest point in Kentucky. This was during the second day of my Southern Appalachian Loop Trip, a trip during which I summited six State Highpoints and multiple other peaks during Memorial Day weekend 2009. Many people tend to only visit the open summit area that has a communications tower. However, the large boulder in this photo has the actual USGS Benchmark Disk embedded into it and is only a very short distance through some thick brush near the communications tower.
