Augustine summit panorama | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Approaching the summit of Augustine volcano on June 29th 2009 having ascended from the western side of the island. Collected some rocks from the 2006 dome (top and left) before heading back the same way.

Voted 10/10 | This is one of those peaks I have always wondered about due to its uniqueness. Great photo. | | Posted Jul 28, 2009 6:04 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks. I had also been thinking how unusual it was but randomly came across this island in the Great Salt Lake, Utah. Couldn't think of another sizable island surrounded by snowy mountains but there you have it. http://www.summitpost.org/image/148366/152498/from-the-summit-looking.html | | Posted Aug 9, 2009 7:39 pm |

Hasn't voted | About 5 hours, but we had a group of mixed abilities so perhaps that's an average expected time got good weather during the summer. Not sure if a lot more snow would make things easier or not as there would be less scree and boulder clambering but perhaps more hard ice and avalanches. | | Posted Aug 12, 2009 2:44 pm |
