OverviewBelow is a list of Colorado peaks which have the greatest vertical drop within a 100 meter(~1/16 of a mile) radius surrounding their summit. The figures below were obtained from analysis of digital data provided by the USGS's National Elevation Dataset at 1/3 arc second resolution. Each of the 360 degrees outward from the summit are examined, with drop figures in each direction averaged and then ranked in descending order. Summits with prominence of > 300 feet are in bold and given a rank. The top 50 ranked summits are shown below. YDS rating for 5th class summits by easiest route is listed 2nd from the right.
