I climbed with fellow SPer Tonyo and had a great time. Not as much snow as I had hoped but nice anyway. We could see snow peaks in the southern sierra.

Summited with my Daughter. Most of the snow has melted off. Hope we get some more soon. The mountain was in the clouds all day. Cold, wet and windy but it's beautiful up there in any weather.

Conditions were excellent, about 2-3 ft of snow. Crampons are helpful when going straight up the mountain. I think it's a tradition to steal the summit log, so I put a new one up there (spiral notebook); hopefully it stays up there. I guess I'll have to check, which gives me another excuse to climb this mountain again!

I've been here several times over the past 20 years. The first time was on a Boy Scouts long-term training hike - we hiked in from Vincent Gap, spent the first night near Lamel Spring, summited the next day, then hiked along the ridge to Little Jimmy CG, then out to Islip Saddle on the third day.

Spent the night on the summit once. My partner brought a can of chili for dinner, which he insisted he cook inside the tent. He then spilled the chili all over the floor of the tent. Next morning, while we were packing, a small group of bicyclists arrived on the summit after poaching the PCT.

Lots of snow, had to attack the mountain head on. Recommend Instep Crampons; steep class 2 climb.

This is my first time reaching a summit. We took two cars up and parked one at Dawson Saddle and the other at Vincent Gap. We started at Vincent Gap. On the way up we veered off trail to see Lamel Spring. We made it to the summit and hung out for a while and went down to Dawson Saddle. It was a great hike that took us about 5 hours of traversing time.

Nice trail, great weather and the 360 degree view from the top is better than Baldy. Made it in 4 hours roundtrip with a 30 minute stop at the summit. First time up.

Great day for a hike. Lots of people. Hot, but nice. Quite a contrast from the December hike up!

This was a great trip, my first in many many years (16?). I guess that I am out of shape after reading that one guy did this climb in 2 hrs. roundtrip in knee deep snow. It took me 5 hrs. roundtrip and I was exhausted when I got back to the car. It was absolutely beautiful to hike this mountain. I really enjoyed the great views!

I am not entirely certain about the date climbed. What I am certain about is the weather on that day. It started out partly cloudy and breezy. While on the ridge between Throope and Baden-Powell the wind started gusting at what I can honestly estimate to be over 80 mph. My brother Joe and I had to crouch down at times to keep our balance against the wind. much of the time the visiblilty was near zero. We reached the cloud shrouded summit and immediately started down toward Vincent Gap. It was then that the rain started. We arrived at my brothers truck as planned, soaked but exhilerated.

Great day for a walk. The road was closed at Grassy Hollow vistor center and had to walk to Vincent Gap to start the climb. My son and I talked all the way about why do you think the road is closed. We saw the reason at the trail head parking lot. Big Boulder in the middle of the road. Great views of the peaks all around us. We did not see anyone the whole day. Very wierd.

Left the parking lot with my son, Jeremiah and made it 2.0 miles to the sign. We hit alot of very icy patches of snow that became constant from 2.0 miles and finally stopped at 2.5 miles. The weather was clear, warm and beautiful. Visibility was excellent. We will come back once the snow is gone and will summit.

This was my first time on Baden Powell. With 18-22 inches of power snow, depending on the elevation, I was thinking snow shoes would have been nice. Oh well, It was still a blast making post holes all the way to the summit. Near the top, a couple caught up with me. They were using the tracks I had made and thanked me for leading the way up. They had snow boards on their backs. Hmmm, good idea but I don't think I have the skill required to dodge all the trees on the way down the thickly forested slopes. Great views of Mt. Baldy, the high desert and clear to the Southern Sierras. What a day!

Beautiful day. I could be wrong but i think that me and my wife were just about the first people to hike up Baden powell since the fire restrictions were lifted. nice hike, wanted to hike somewhere in the sierra but the massive snowstorm kinda halted those plans.

A relaxing, leisurely morning hike to the summit of Mt. Baden-Powell with mdostby. It was a bit windy on the final ridge towards the summit and at the summit itself. We then headed to Mike's house to discuss final logistics and sorting gear for our upcoming Pico de Orizaba attempt, Nov. 23-Dec. 1, 2002.

Trying to beat the heat, my son and I started at 5:00 am. 70 minutes later, he was at the top. I arrived 30 minutes after him. There was a nice breeze at the top, but the temps were already getting high on the way down.
