Topped all three 13,600+ summits on Bald Mountain. Amazing weather for October - shorts and t-shirt the entire trip. Views from the summit ridge are hard to top.

Started from Boreas Pass and reached the saddle in no time. From there, the route up the ridge is clear although alot of talus and scree is present.

Reached the summit in about 2.5 hours in perfect weather. The views were spectacular, especially of the ten mile ranch and Breckenridge. The view south (south park) was spoiled by haze - most likely due to the fire near Pueblo.

Climbed Bald and Boreas from the pass yesterday. Since we hiked after Friday's storm, we got one last look at snowy peaks probably for a while.

Starting 1/2 mile north of Boreas Pass, I followed the small drainage up to the 12,159' pass between Boreas Mtn. and Blad Mtn. Bob Martin refers to this as Black Powder Pass, although it is not named on the Boreas Pass topo. From here you head NNW up grass and tedious rock until the first of several false summits is reached. Persist on and the highest point is the NW summit, with great views to Summit county and Dillon Lake to the north. On the descent, it began snowing on me and Logan, my 4-legged climbing companion.

I returned with my wife and a friend in June 2002 and reclimbed the route, taking longer than I had remembered.

A giant ridge of a mountain. Mountain goats were everywhere! A nice hike. Good for those that want to look down on Breckenridge. Also offers nice views of the nearby Tenmile Mountains.

Hiked and skied these chutes many times while living in Breck. Snow is here until mid summer in most years and makes for great snow climbing and moderate to difficult sking coming down. In the right conditions one can ski summit to car nonstop.

I was hoping the fog would clear but it only got worse. Once I reached the summit, it began to pour. The wind was terrible. Was lucky that the terrain was easy allowing me a quick descend.
