Climbing In (and around) in Texas

Bob, are you aware of the Wichita Mountains up in Oklahoma? There really is some world-class climbing up there and the hiking, scenery, wildlife and wilderness is also world-class. I had a four year exile in Dallas for gradschool and I found the Wichitas during my second semester there. After that, I can't tell you how many times I went. It was my little mountain refuge while stuck in the big city. I know it is a bit further from Austin than Dallas, but on weekends, you will be hard-pressed to do better. It is spectacular!

Re: Climbing In (and around) in Texas

Thanks, Bubba. I am aware of the Wichitas and have already checked out your Charon's Garden page, as I'd like to get up there this spring.

My closest "mountain" right now is Enchanted Rock, where there is nice hiking and good rock climbing.
