| Great peak close to home for getting in shape. Has great elevation gain approx 2800 feet and good mileage to break in those hiking boots. It is quite steep in places so if you climb in the winter, watch for ice patches on the trail.
It is nice that it is a short drive and you don't have to deal with I-70 traffic getting home. Once you cross over the boundary of Federal Land from NCAR, dogs can be on voice command and without a leash.
I returned to this summit 6/8/2003 and also included Green Mountain and S. Boulder Peak in a giant loop of 13 miles! Great hike - the wildflowers were beautiful at this time. |
