Beginning Dragontail Trek...

This photo was taken as our team headed east from Colchuck Pass, en route to Dragontail Peak. Gimpilator and Josh Lewis can be seen on the right side of the photo. We spent some time exploring the prospects of descending the jagged ridge seen in the background to the more gentle, open slopes on the other side. One spot had a rappel sling (but we had no rope), and another spot was theoretically possible but a large crevasse-like moat was directly below it. As a result, we backtracked our route slightly and headed up the southwest couloir, the bottom of which Gimpilator and Josh are nearing in this photo. Dragontail Peak was to become the second mountain we would summit in the Enchantments during a two-day span. Photo taken on June 11, 2011.
