The route I described has a good path all the way up to the summit. I believe there is also a route up from the dam via Beinn Dubh and its adjoining ridge. I did plan to descend this way but the weather was deteriorating and we decided to just go down the way we came.

This is the only one of the Arrochar Alps I've still to do. Is there a good route or is it just a slog up the ridge or direct from the dam?
