Black Pine bark (Pinus nigra)

Beautiful example of European Black Pine (Pinus nigra), endemic type of tree in Europe. This tree is approximately 250 years old. They are moderately variable species of pine, occurring across southern Mediterranean Europe from Spain to the Crimea, in Asia Minor and on Cyprus. It is found at elevations ranging from sea level to 2.000 metres, most commonly from 250–1.600 metres. The photo is made on Konjuh (1.328m) small mountain in central Bosnia. April 2011
