Snow in August  Sucess!

Made the top with Isaac and Leah after being snowed on for most of the way. Chicken Out Ridge was a lot of fun. The final push to the summit was not. Nor was going down. Great weekend with family!!!

1st State High Point  Sucess!

Started off my journey of climbing the state high points with Borah Peak from my home state of Idaho. We took the standard route up but dropped a little low around Chicken Out Ridge due to a low snow year. Got up and down the mountain in around 4 and a half hours.

Adopted by an Idaho family  Sucess!

8/11/14 Started up before dawn. Ran into a family that was climbing the peak as a bucket list item. We worked our way over the first rock hump to the notch/snow traverse together and ended up climbing with them the rest of the day. I'm the new Cousin Brian to the Schaecher family from Idaho. We took photos with the flag up top not knowing it was a Jehovah's Witness one. Doh! Hiked back down together and then they gave me beer. Fun bunch to hook up with for the day.

6/20/15 Got to 12,450 with Sue. Normal route on the summit pinnacle was ice. Went up south ridge. Spicy mixed ice, rock and snow. Should be melted out soon though.

Climbed when I was a teenager  Sucess!

Adrenaline made going up easy, but coming back down was scary and hard. I do not recall the exact date I climbed the mountain but it was sometime around the date listed.

9th State HP  Sucess!

Hiked with my brother from twin falls. We left at 5:50am and summited right at 11:00am. Still a few long patches of snow with really big exposure at this point in the year. One on COR that was about 25 long and only about 2 feet wide at the top. COR was for sure not as bad as people make it out to be. Take your time. Make sure you have good hand holds and foot holds. We used microspikes for the snow bridges and trekking poles. The last 800ft scramble to the summit was super steep and definitely a scramble. It was very ledgy and almost no exposure. There are quite a few routes you could take that are equally obnoxious but very doable.

Hung out at the peak for probably 45 min. It was such a gorgeous day and with so much snow up top of the surrounding peaks it was more than spectacular.

4 hours down. Met 2 dudes from WY/CO that summited ahead of us by about an hour and a guy from Omaha who decided to come back later in the summer after the snow melts.

Conquering Idaho's tallest point  Sucess!

The highest mountain in Idaho and the highest I've personally climbed. This one never lets up so train hard and get ready to die on summit day.

Great day hike  Sucess!

Tyler and I climbed on the first Wednesday in October. Fortunately there was no snow to be found, and conditions were excellent. There were 6 other people on the mountain that day with two making the summit, and four turning back at COR. It was a memorable climb!

Highpoint #19  Sucess!

My first highpoint after moving to Idaho, and it of course had to be the highpoint of my new home! Great climb, lots of vertical, incredible views. Managed to help my out of shape boss and his in better shape wife summit with me. A great trip.

1st Time  Sucess!

First time up Borah. This was straight up. Only do this if you want a "9-hour Stairmaster" experience. But worth every step! Incredible!

First time on a State High Point and I plan on doing more State High Points in the upcoming years.

Amazing views. Very few people. Highly recommended.
