Borax Lake

Looking across 100+ degree Borax Lake towards Steens Mountain. Of the many amazing locations I have seen these last few years in Southeast Oregon, this is one of the most amazing. Water wells right up out of the bottom of this lake overflowing its elevated rim and running out into the alkaline flats of Alvord Lake. Several marshes and small ponds can be found around this lake supporting a wide variety of migratory birds and the predators that feed on them. A very fat coyote was seen leaving as we arrived, and multiple piles of feathers were found ringing the lake.
