Brian Head Summit

Road was blocked due to snow drifts so I was fortunate enough to hike to the summit. I parked next to the sign for Brian Head Peak (almost to mile marker 18 on Hwy. 143) which was at 10,432' and started up the road. This area at this time of year reminds me of the Tour de France coming up next month. Can't wait!!! I needed my snowshoes from mile 1.8 to 2.3 as the drifts across the road were knee deep. Reached the summit 2.5 miles later and 875' higher. Very easy but beautiful hike. Very windy and cool June afternoon at 11,307'. Check out the rockpile on top of the peak just to the south and add one if you dare. Follow this steep ridge down to the road and save yourself 1-1/2 miles.
