Brown Knapweed (Centaurea jacea) belongs to the Aster family (Asteraceae) and it is native to Europe. It grows in mountain meadows up to 1900 meters and blooms from June to October. It is pollinated by bees. Other names of this species include: rayed knapweed, brown centaury, horse-knobs and hardheads.
