Bushwhack up the left "mushroom stem" May 1999  Sucess!

Hiked this awesome hill with my friend from Alabama, Tim Allen in late Spring of 1999 on a simply gorgeous Summit County day. Great mountain with outstanding views. I could be mistaken, but I do not think the Buffalo Mountain Trail was finished when we attempted the ascent. Killer hike.

Route Climbed: Buffalo Cabin Trail Date Climbed: July 23, 2005  Sucess!

Went up the "old trail" and came down the new trail through the boulder field to the right of the old trail. Didn't make it over to scared buffalo this time. Going down was tougher than the hike up - but still a great hike.

Nice ski, walked through an absolutely amazing avalanche debri field on the way out. Scary!

Route Climbed: Buffalo Mountain Trail, down along Sacred Buffalo Cliffs Date Climbed: July 4, 2005  Sucess!

Picked a gorgeous day to finally hit the top - I've been to treeline about 4 times in the snow, but due to avalanche conditions, this was my first summit trip. The route was steep, but well maintained through the boulderfields and the summit was spectacular. It was a serious class 3 scramble over to sacred buffalo, with a bit of class 4 downclimbing - completed gorgeous and nice to get away from the July 4 crowds. I had heard from several people of a trail down from Sacred Buffalo, but lost it early and bushwhacked the rest of the way down - seriously difficult, as I kept getting cliffed out. Great trip though.

Route Climbed: Buffalo Cabin Trail Date Climbed: July 3, 2005  Sucess!

The trail is very steep above Buffalo Cabin. It is well marked for a boulder trail. If you think you are there when you finish the boulders, think again. Even the less strenuous trail is a chore because you think you're almost there. Views from the summit are worth the trip. Not a climb I would do again but glad I did it once.

Route Climbed: Buffalo Mountain Trail up, Silver Coulior ski descent Date Climbed: June 2001  Sucess!

Hiked up the standard trail and skied from the summit down the Silver Coulior with a friend. The chute is narrow and steep but holds great conditions due to the northern exposure. Fun hike to a summit with awesome views.

Also climbed again on 9 September, 2005 by standard route.

I sure wish the new trail had been constructed when I hiked this - it was a bit of a slog. Nonetheless, great views from the top and definitely worth the effort.

Route Climbed: Buffalo Mountain Trail Date Climbed: September 20, 2004  Sucess!

The weather wasn't very good for this hike: mostly cloudy, with some light rain and snow, and a lot of wind higher up. As a result, I saw only two other hikers on the trail. Fortunately, the sky cleared up at the summit. It's a good hike.

Route Climbed: Buffalo Mountain Trail. Date Climbed: September 12, 2004  Sucess!

A nice easy hike. The scramble along the ridge is recommended. This would be a good mountain to take friends and family on. It is short, has a nice summit view, and an excellent trail. I climbed it after having wisdom teeth pulled and I didn't have any adverse affects. But I did feel a little loopy on top.
