Nice page... the area from a climatic standpoint looks a lot like Central Mexico... which I know and love.

I don't know much about central Mexico, but what I can say is that the Hex range is on the edge of the Karoo, a great expanse of almost desert-like plains (red earth and small bushes). To the southwest we've got lush Cape winelands, to the northeast everything is hot, dry and barren - but very beautiful in its own way.
