Date Climbed: Jul 17, 2004
Attempted to summit Bull Mountain, had some difficulty losing the trail through the groves below the lake and meadow area. Hiking partner wasn't too excited about route finding (not a big deal for myself but was freaking her out), so I conceded to come back another time to complete the trip.

The western columbines were in blossom along the creak, and I would have to say that it was the most unexpected and perhaps most impressive display of wildflowers that I have ever seen. Hallowed ground for me.

Drove until the snow blocked the road, which left about 2.5 miles each way. Nice hike, but I did get a fair amount of strange looks from hunters that were trying to understand what I was doing, walking my dog up there.

Climbed from Clear Creek CG. After the stream crossing, it was an unpleasant bushwack to the west shoulder. Encountered a thunderstorm on the way down. The cirque was beautiful

Went up from the campground through Lake Fork Drainage. Not a soul on the mountain but me. Had to do a little bushwacking because the trail was sketchy.

I spent the night in Snowville after biking the MS100 in Logan the day before. This was a nice side trip and completes another of the vital CoHP's (more details in the Trip Report).

This was a nice summer hike in a rarely visited area. We came in from the Clear Creek Campground and up the lake fork drainage to the summit. This was a nice hike that we both enjoyed!

I drove to the top of Bull Mtn and got there just as it was getting dark. Not much of a climb, but it counts as another CoHP just like Kings Peak.

My first attempt at this obscure CoHP resulted in (1) embarrassment and (2) failure. On June 24, 2006, I took a young friend who wanted an adventure, and I gave him one by getting lost and returning home without a summit. This attempt was different (saved the embarrassment by going solo!), and I attained the plateau-like summit in spite of the lack of even faint trails over much of the climb. GPS waypoints are wonderful little blessings. If you don't care for bushwhacking through tough, scrubby sage brush, put Bull Mtn at the bottom of your to-do list. :)

Dean2nd of the day

Bob Bolton and I met in Snowville after I had climbed Bonneville Peak near Pocatello Idaho earlier in the day in a snowstorm. From Snowville, we drove up the northside of Bull Mtn, suffered a flat tire and walked 150 feet to the highpoint. It was nice to make this the second county highpoint of the day but Bonneville Peak had soaked my boots pretty good so I didn't mind the non hike to get this one. Bob and I had a huge agenda for the rest of the week with the likes of Ibapah, Deseret, Nebo, Timpanogos, Flat Top to chase after so this was our only easy effort.
