I've climbed it on 1 January 2011, 22 January 2011, 1 December 2012, and 1 January 2013. The summit area is fun to explore. Yesterday it was coated in ice, however...
Quick and easy, even in a sauna Date Climbed: Jun 1, 2011
Second ascent of the day. 90 degrees, 85% humidity; felt like a sauna. The highest point of Chimney Rocks isn't the obvious one, it appears to be towards the southeast. Stand on them all if you're not sure. Descent was quick and easy.
Started at the Old Forge picnic area and climbed up via the AT. Crossed to the blue-blazed trail via a pipeline and descended that trail past Hermitage Cabin. Chimney Rocks and the foot bridge over the stream next to Hermitage Cabin are two great places to take a break.
