| Swithich | Straight Up ![]() Date Climbed: Feb 4, 2012 | |
| Very good description on the route ("The Easy Way") and access. I would agree with those in the class 4 group. I felt there was a substantial amount of class 4 (especially on the final 100 feet or so of ledges). That all said the view from the top was great. It was cold though. Lots of wind and it was a colder day in NM. Take some warm clothes and gloves for the top. Be aware of the loose rock. I knocked off quite a few rocks coming down. Bring a rock helmet and good shoes with you. Three hours round trip (give or take a half hour). -Swithich | ||

| I drive by this peak every few weeks, & finally took the time to get on top of it. Beautiful route & great view. Upper 4th class with exposure, but secure if you take your time. | ||

| Took some route that my dad thought we need ropes for. I was really young. I don't remember if it really was technical. Just remember having fun and my father telling me a Navajo story about the ant people on the top. | ||

| SkyHighBri | Windy Cabezon Day ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 3, 2011 | |
| Twas a great hike up Cabezon this morning. Hiking with a good friend of mine who soon will be moving to Tx. We've hike many peaks together and this was the last one for a while until he can come back and do more 14ers with me. We made the ascent in 1 hour and descent in about 50 minutes...not a bad round trip at all. The winds picked up tremendously as we headed down...70+ mph gusts on our way back to ABQ. Great hike, good scrambling, several geocaches at the top! Why dont you head out there and have some fun too! | ||

| Cool climb. Nice to climb the head of Cliff Monster after experiencing Tse' Bit'ai. Was a bit steeper in places than I had anticipated but could also be that I was tired after a week of straight climbing. Trip Report | ||

| Great 3rd class climbing! My dog made it up with a lot of help, I probably wouldn't bring her again unless I was with a similarly confident group (we had to pass her down the very last bit in the gully). Good times had by all. | ||

| Third time up on top of Cabezon. Did a standard "Easy Way" route twice. This time climbed rib/edge to the right of the standard gully (solid Class 4). Fun climb/scramble, great views! | ||

| Very fun climb/scramble with a few people from my SAR team. Started out cloudy but while on the summit the sun came out and we had blue skies for the descent. | ||

| StumblingBear | A Sacred Peak- in a holy land ![]() Date Climbed: May 5, 1997 | |
| Have been on top of Cabezon twice and really enjoyed it. Yes it can be hard to find the right way down and lots of loose rock to worry about as you try the correct spot. Anyway Go! It is worth it and the Rio Puerco basin has a ton of great places to explore. I spent months of time in the area and never tired of the beauty of the place. | ||

| ...literally! It was overcast and pretty darn cold for most of the hike/climb. I was surprised that there wasn't snow. A great easy 4th class with some decent exposure! I have since climbed this peak 3 more times. Most recently on 4 May 2012. | ||

| MoapaPk | over the years... ![]() Date Climbed: May 1, 1983 | |
| Went 3 times -- 1983, 1985 and 1989. At those times, there was no register on top, but a fairly large circular windbreak, which may have been the remnants of a "sacred mountain" Amerind monument. Things I remember: 1) if you don't use a GPS, it is good to mark the place where you break through the cliffs onto the top -- say with a piece of orange cloth. It is very easy to get disoriented on the big, broad top, and miss the correct chute on way down. Maybe so many climbers have gone since 1989, that there is a more obvious use trail. Maybe not. 2)The "easy way" seemed mostly class 2, with one very short section of class 3 in the gully. There was certainly nothing like what I normally see rated as class 4. | ||

| jfrishmanIII | Just what I'd hoped ![]() Date Climbed: Dec 2, 2006 | |
| Great scramble, on solid rock, the kind I'd been wanting for quite a while. No one had signed the trail register since Thanksgiving. The silence out there is wonderful. We saw a juvenile mountain lion (yes, I'm sure) walking down the road on the drive out. He didn't run from us or several cars: not normal behavior. | ||

| Dan the Jones | North Side Snow ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 4, 2005 | |
| Turned into the mountain before the large white arrow on the ground. Made a traverse of the talus as oppossed to a straight up climb. The scrambling in the gully is now a little easier. Someone has spray painted all the hand and foot holds red. After gully, trail is easy to resume. Was quite windy the day I went but the rock walls really buffered the wind and made it quite enjoyable. | ||

| It was looked steeper than it really was, which was fortunate. The sky was partly cloudy and a cool breeze kept us from overheating while soaking in the awesome views. Great peak. | ||
