Cacite Crystals

Cacite Crystals

Formation of Calcite in rocks near the Calumet Mine, CO. The composition of these minearls is calcium carbonate, and when dilute HCl is put on the surface of the mineral it fizzes vigorously. These most likely formed primarily in the rock and not secondarily as water carrying ions flowed through the rock.
