| Started at the Museum at 4:30 am with a group from outdoorsclub.org (http://www.outdoorsclub.org/PastTrip/PastTripDetail.asp?id=10407)
Made it the first 8000 ft to the Tram by 9:30 am, took a long break (too long), filled out a permit and started up to the summit. Hit snow at Round Valley, started getting tough, ran into a ranger who said I needed snow shoes (of course, I had none) but I continued on. The last mile was a slog, "post holeing" through the snow. Finally summited shortly after 2:00 pm, took a more direct route back to the tram and caught the tram down. What a hike! The hardest I have ever done. Next hike, Shorty Wells to Telegraph Peak in Death Valley, even more elevation gain! |
