Great Autumn Hike  Sucess!

I hiked up trail 64 from Pine Lodge and had avoid a fair amount of deadfall on the trail. The recent fire has opened up the views and charred many of the area trees. Lots of undergrowth now, as the area begins to recover.

Trail 64 in snow.  Sucess!

Spent the previous night at Bottomless Lakes SP near Roswell. It was warm but then a front moved through blanketing the upper reaches of Capitan with about 5 inches of snow. A fun hike in the snow!

Route: Trail #64  Sucess!

Long day hike with lots of lady bugs at the peak. Nice views of surrounding area on a very clear day.

You are not far from the site of the Roswell "UFO"

incident! Aside from that its a long and scenic

climb with good views of SE New Mexico. Lots

of interesting rock formations along the way.

Great mexican food in Roswell to finish the day!!

Hiked the peak as a long day hike (decided to take the scree scramble to the top). Great views. Not a single other person on the trail (hunters could be heard).

I started at the TH at 4:00 and reached the summit 2.5 hours later. The views on this mountain are spectacular, you could see forever from the top. The hike reminded me a lot of Pikes Peak. There were a lot of swich backs so I climbed a short pitch to avoid some. Overall it was a great hike, up and down in 4 hours.
