Carbody Canyon?

Carbody Canyon?

Guy, Carl (don't laugh, the afro was popular back then) and Mike at Carbody Canyon before the car was there. It was a couple years later when someone dumped a car off the cliff and us local climbers coined the named "Carbody Canyon" to describe where we were putting up new routes. Later, John Platt (splattski) and the IMT staff organized a cleanup where they hauled a gas cutting rig into the canyon and cut the car into pieces so the National Guard could haul it out. Even with the car long gone the name "Carbody Canyon" stuck as did the name "The Black Cliffs". The city of Boise purchased the 700+ acre plateau above the cliffs with plans to restore the native brush and grasses thus protecting the integrity of this fantastic local climbing area and important historic winter range for the many deer and elk that still live above the valley.
