| Vinny | beyond Hubris | |
| the guidebook is a very superficial overview of the immense amount of rock here. we well overshot Hubris by circumnavigating the Castle dome counterclock-wise. it was an adventure but Mark, Robert and I would have preferred to stick to climbing cosmic wall than a roped simul hike of a wild valley. It was fun but in hindsight we should have stuck to main trail. Oh this decision was in part due to the park being closed. so hiking in from I-5. | |

| A nice hike on a good trail up to 4.800' next Castle Dome. Great views of Shasta. This can be a real hot hike in summer. Again September 23 '11. | |

| Shadedd | Night at the Castle Date Climbed: Jun 27, 2010 | |
| Starting from Ranger station around 11 AM. Hiked to top and spent the night alone in the Castle. Woke up to beautiful sunrise on cliffs and Mt. Shasta. Met lots of people on the way down using the shorter trail. | |
