| After getting lost trying to find the way up after my GPS quit on me, I returned to next day after figuring out the unmapped trail network. Park at the radio towers above Buckhorn Lakes (just stay on the main road). There's a small road used by ATVs heading south from there. Follow that until you reach the north ridge's most gradual topo lines and bushwhack up the east side of the ridge. There's a very faint "trail" marked occasionally with flagging. Follow the ridge once on top. Summit is at the radio repeater. I went farther along the ridge to the county corner BM. A GPS is very helpful and I used a mountain bike to cut time off the trail descent. | |

| My wife and I had all kinds of route information on this peak, but never really found the "correct" way up. I suspect we used bits and pieces from all of them. We had beautiful weather and the view of the main range of the San Juans was spectacular. | |

| Route from Buckhorn Lakes was mostly covered with wet snow. Fortunately for me, a new, followable route presented itself. I documented the route here on SP. The muddy roads are no joke - I almost got my 4x4 (with well worn tires) stuck. | |
