Central part of Pag island,...

Central part of Pag island, some 45km away, engulfed with salty fog cloud which is on places 400m high! Sveti Vid (349m) is barely visible rounded head left of the middle.

Fog is raised by the hurricane force Bura wind that is blowing below Mid Velebit in this situation. Because Velebit is very long, depending on the weather situation, Bura can have different strength along the massif at the same time. But this situation is rare and so is the chance to catch it because usually whole channel is engulfed with the spray. This window of opportunity opens when Bura is gradually picking up strength along the massif.

Re: It's amazing that

Where I was Bura was still hovering between very strong to gale force strength, which is not so hard to withstand, but over there it was already boiling. What is hard is to take steady shot when it is so dull and you are shaken so much. This is the only time I've seen something like this Mark, because usually there is no visibility (like here ). It was awesome sight of Bura and its salty cloud at work! This was in June.
