March 2015 update

I would definitely check out: http://www.hotelcasamariposa.net/chirripo.html
for accurate information it seems it is the only trusted site you can see on the web. It is incredible. All of these false information sites like chirripo.com are just charging ridiculous amounts of money to hike up Chirripo. I recommend to search up: https://www.costaricarios.com/adventure-travel-in-costa-rica-chirripo.html
I went a couple of weeks ago and it is the easiest way to get reservations.

yo

Came into isidro last and tried calling the park office 10 times this morning. Could not get ahold of them. So i left my friend in isidro to make the payment at the bank (1.5 hour wait in line). And hopped a bus to the park. I was able to make reservations in person to climb the mountain the next day. And she is currently making payment. So far so good but what a hassle.

New website and booking agency

The link provided here for the website of the Chirripó National Park is outdated, this is the new official website of the national park: www.parquenacionalchirripo.com
Since recently there is as well a new booking agency that arranges entrance and lodging permits for a very reasonable booking fee. I got to them through Casa Mariposa, this is their website: www.hikingchirripo.com

Permits -

You can now get permits online. The website is VERY SLOW. They take credit cards. https://serviciosenlinea.sinac.go.cr
You can have one of the nearby hotels book you permits if you cant get the website to work.

If you are doing it in a day, you can still order and pay for a meal (breakfast or lunch) at Crestones in advance. Pretty nice to come down from the summit and have a meal before heading down.
https://www.chirripo.org

At KM 7.5 there is a stand selling snacks and drinks and has water. Crestones also has food and drinks for sale.
