The beautiful Crystal River begins high in Lead King Basin and 26 miles down valley eventually runs into one of Colorado's most famous rivers, the Roaring Fork. Photographed a quarter mile downstream within a secret box canyon from Crystal River Falls.

Jon, I took this shot about a half hour after I took the shot of the waterfall shown in this sequence. My brother talked me into a nasty class 3 dirt descent down into the box canyon to hike the river out. Once I got down there I thought for sure I wouldn't keep my camera dry. I think we had about a quarter mile of canyon to hike before we could exit the river area. Of course we had to hike through someones yard to get back to the road. Go figure....what private property?
