Is an axe really needed on this peak? I'm heading there in a week - from all my research, I don't see any slopes steep enough to warrant an axe. Am I wrong? I wasn't planning on bringing one.

You definitely don't need an axe, I just brought one along in order to get a good, snowy pic for my website. The snow was hard enough for a good glissade, though!
