Malibu?

ocean-side cragging? Or maybe Vietnam or Thailand? Looks uncomfortable (but in a very cool location)- am guessing you have a comfy harness!

Re: Malibu?

:) Malibu - it is not:) That would be way sick though if it were. It is Thailand. A beautiful place to chill and climb some fun overhanging limestone.
Actually, that harness was not super comfy - but I was distracted with the cool views so it did not matter:)

It is cool on the taiwand wall you go up a few pitches and it is sooooo steep that you end up over the water and as you climb higher all you have is the beautiful blue/green ocean under your feet - WAY COOL!

This is awesome!!

How were the logistics of climbing Thailand? Would love to go here some day. Also, did you do mostly sport routes or deep water solo? Just curious as to what most people do here, climbing wise. Great shot! Keep climbing,

Re: This is awesome!!

Thanks it was awesome!!!
I have not been in a few years now, but the logistics are pretty simple. However, from friends beta it sounds like Railay Bay is very crowded during high season now.

When I was there we were there in February. It was great! We did mostly sport routes, but many do deep water soloing.. I am too scared for that stuff:)
But, there are a ton of sport routes mostly above 5.10 - so get training and enjoy that awesome limestone, sporty routes, and beautiful ocean:)!!!

**Note - that it is not always 'sport bolted'. There can be run-outs or sketchy ropes that are clipped for protection.. Definitely adventure climbing!

Let me know if you want specifics:)
