Chuckawalla 21, 5.9

Chuckawalla 21, 5.9

2nd - 160’- 5.9/ A fantastic and sustained (more 5.8 than 5.9) pitch full of solid edges and crimps through ten bolts to a fixed semi-hanging belay. I placed no gear on the pitch and felt the bolts, although spread out, more than adequately protected it. Chuckawalla 21, 5.9, 6 Pitches, Global Peak, Mud Springs Canyon, Red Rocks, NV, March, 2010

is that the

route far in the backcountry of red rocks, Dow? Great reviews by ST & an advertised 3+ hr approach?
Looks like fun from your shots!

Re: is that the

yes it is Radek....2hrs approach for us, but that is only because I have been back there before and knew where I was going...a bit convoluted approach...can't say I like any of the approach write ups out there, quite confusing, hope mine clear it up a bit....climbing itself was not that great....the beauty of the canyon is however by RR standards...worth doing for sure..I will want to go back and do some of the other routes on that face....8hrs car to car for us, so not that big of day really, definitely not grade IV
