Overview

Campanile di Vallesinella, Castelletto Superiore, Cima Sella, Bocca di Tuckett and Cima Brenta from Tuckett Hut

Cima Sella is an important mountain of the central sector of Gruppo di Brenta. It lies between Cima Brenta ( from which is separated by Bocca di Tuckett ) and Campanile di Vallesinella. It is recognizable by the beatiful profile that shows seen from west, like a tooth.
It has two summits, the highest of which is the eastern one. The normal routes are two: from north, the easiest one, and from south, a little more difficult. There are not many other routes on this mountain: we can indicate one route of Kiene brothers ( 1910 ), not easy, and one very difficult ( 5° degree ) of Castiglioni ( 1942 ).

NORMAL ROUTE FROM NORTH : you start from Tuckett Hut m 2278 and go up in the direction of Bocca Alta di Vallesinella. Before you reach the Vedretta you have to turn on the right and go up on the West ridge, where you meet Sentiero Benini. From here you go up along the northern slope staying quite near the northern ridge. Overcoming little walls ( never difficult ) and gravelly slopes you arrive under the summit rocks, you go up along them with a fun climb and arrive on the top. DIFFICULTIES : 1° degree.

NORMAL ROUTE FROM SOUTH : From Tuckett Hut you must reach Bocca di Tuckett m 2648. You have now to go along Sentiero Benini that crosses the southern side of Cima Sella. Soon after the early stairs you have to leave Sentiero Benini going up along the southern side of the mountain. With a route a little articulated but never really difficult you reach the little saddle under the final rocks of the summit. Turning on the right, you climb the last easy rocks and arrive on the top. This route is more interesting and " wild " than the Northern one, but it is never busy and you must be careful with falling rocks, that may go over people who are on Sentiero Benini. DIFFICULTIES : 1°+ degree.

TIMES OF RANGE : 1st route = Tuckett Hut m 2278 - Cima Sella = h 2.00
2nd route = Tuckett Hut - Bocca di Tuckett m 2648 = h 1.00
Bocca di Tuckett - Cima Sella = h 1.30

DROPS : Tuckett Hut - Cima Sella = 639 m

Getting There

To go to Tuckett Hut you have to reach Trento, by train or by car, then go up to Madonna di Campiglio. When you are here, you can go by car or walking up to Vallesinella Hut m 1513. Here you follow the path n. 317, go up beyond Casinei Hut m 1825 and arrive to Tuckett Hut in h 2.30 of hiking.

DROPS : Valesinella Hut - Casinei Hut = 312 m
Casinei Hut - Tuckett Hut = 453 m
