When people read a Trip Report, I believe most of them expect to read about a climbing trip that has already occurred. This story would probably have been better created as either an Article, a Custom Object, or perhaps as an ad in the Partners section, rather than a Trip Report. My guess is that you'll get very few votes because of the confusion. Anyway, good luck with your trip!
Although your point is well taken--trip reports typically involve climbs that have already occurred--there really is no natural home on summitpost.org for a weblog of an ongoing expedition. What's the fun in that? I guess I've always been about pushing the envelope a little--and sometimes a lot--so few votes and a little confusion is fine with me if it ultimately prompts this climbing community to accommodate evolving technology. Trip reports in the traditional sense make a lot of sense in a world without satellite telephones and data uplinks, and when this expedition is over you'll see a fully formed traditional trip report on this page. For now, however, it's under construction, and it will be until I get back from Alaska.
Actually, I think a running blog of your trip is an excellent idea. I would probably use a Custom Object in SP for that purpose. I would venture to guess that you'd get a lot of interest and votes, and less confusion, if you did it that way. Have a safe trip...
I am the Bear Can Neighbor who met you on the Mt. Whitney trail at Lone Pine Lake. Will be looking forward to hearing about your trip. I will let Jeff know I found you and Bryan. Hope all goes well.

Fantastic!! What an exciting trip. I think you should put this into a book; it makes for a nice read. I will past this report on to Jeff. I was going to see him today to finalize our 8 day adventure, which will seam like “child’s-play” to you guys.
Obviously I read this TR 4 years after you climbed, but I think it is a really good account of your trip. Not sure what it looked like at the time, but now it's solid. The only thing I would suggest you to do is add some whitespace.
