You saw......wild pigs like this? OK, with a strong zoom, I guess. They usually hide from people.

As usual we got lost at some point of the hike and started to scramble up a wooded slope through deep ruts. These ruts made me think of wild pigs already but I was too busy not sliding down and avoiding pine brances to take any notice.
I topped out onto this meadow, looked around, admired the mountains - took a photo, placed the camera back in its pouch turned around to wait for Judith. When she arrived I looked upmeadow - and there they were - quietly creating deep ruts in the meadow :-) Picked out the camera zoomed in (200mm) took a shot and started moving towards them. Big error - soon the whole herd (there were more hidden to the left and right) was galloping away from us.
Next story: hiking through one of our local forest here we arrived at a trail intersection were people were behaving strangely. It seemed like they were getting away from something. As we got nearer we saw that two capital wild pigs were nonchalantly strutting down the path, not taking any notice of anybody. We got out of their way as well and they simply ambled by. During that era I never had a camera with me :-(

Re: You saw...We also saw them this year. We were biking through Istria, from the coast, up some 300 meters. Some 5km before the village where we had a car, I took another road, marked as a bike tour there. It was already getting dark and suddenly we started to struggle to reach car not in a complete darkness. There it was, on the road, a big, black wild boar. We slowed down, Jasmina started to shout on him, and then he decides to rush into a dense forrest. It was too dark and no time to take a photo :(
