Close-up of Mt. Adams' summit...

Close-up of Mt. Adams' summit - You can just barely make out the old miner's shack, completely snow-free in this Sept. 30th shot from a commercial plane. It blends in with the bare ground on the upper right of the crater rim. Also, the popular glissading run down the south side is visible.

Unique perspective

It took me about 15 minutes to realize I was standing on the rim of a crater, but here you see it right off. Nice picture.

Rebuilt volcano

Much like Rainier then, Adams started rebuilding volcanic episodes after having eroded down substantially. I never knew this about Adams either, and have been to the summit twice (both times quite snow covered) Thanks for sharing this picture.
