Clouds+Thick Pines+Crappy...
Clouds+Thick Pines+Crappy Camera=Dark Picture, sorry. This is a shot of the dense grove of Balsam Pines that you pass through after leaving the parking area. This stand of woods has a very northern feel to it. There isn't the dense undergrowth you find many places elsewhere at these latitudes.

I remember a forest like this atop Clingmans Dome in the early 70's but it's totally wasted now.
