So they closed the Parkway.......and we hiked to Deep Gap from Camp Daniel Boone off Highway 215. The trail was obvious (although not marked) and fairly rugged. It crosses a lot of nice streams and is never exposed to much wind. Although there was a lot of vertical gain involved, I never really got too tired. We were at Deep Gap from the parking lot in about 2.5 hours. The hike up Cold Mountain the next morning was in a light snow, which was lots of fun. It was really cold, windy, and a fun trip.
