Cold Mountain: March 3-4, 2007

So they closed the Parkway....

...and we hiked to Deep Gap from Camp Daniel Boone off Highway 215. The trail was obvious (although not marked) and fairly rugged. It crosses a lot of nice streams and is never exposed to much wind. Although there was a lot of vertical gain involved, I never really got too tired. We were at Deep Gap from the parking lot in about 2.5 hours. The hike up Cold Mountain the next morning was in a light snow, which was lots of fun. It was really cold, windy, and a fun trip.
