Twin Coasts

High on Corno Grande.
Monte Prena, and Monte Camica in the distant ridgeline.
From here, you can view both coastlines of Italy.

Re: Twin Coasts

Corno Grande is on my wish list, too. I'm sure I will get there in a few years. Just it's 2 days driving from my home

Cycling at Corno Grande

Try cycling the 25km road - when you arrive from L'Aquilla and to Fonte Cerrito (Ski lift station), start there. First a long bike ascent, then across the high plateau, and into Campo Imperatore. It is so fabulouse there. Then a hard ride up to the top ski station. When you have done the ride, you feel so rewarded. It is as good as climbing the mountain itself. Maybe, I will come too.

Re: Cycling at Corno Grande

Actually the question is not about getting from L'Aquila to Campo Imperatore. The major question is to get from Hungary to L'Aquila. It must be a distance of 1200 km!

Anyway, thanks for the invitation - I may drop a message when finally I really plan to go to Gran Sasso.

Actually, what do you do so intensively in Italy (and not in the UK?)

Re: Cycling at Corno Grande

For 6 years I travelled every month to Italy (by plane). I worked for Hitachi at our Customer. My job was "Field Service Engineer". I repaired the machine for producing the computer chip. Such a lucky opportunity.

When I was assigned to Germany, I sometimes drove from my home to Munich in 16 hours - 1600km. So 1200km - easy! But you need a good car with a big engine or its only stress. Easy for us high achievers!

PS: I did not have to pay for the gas - maybe the biggest problem!
