| Initially up the well trodden path and then directly up the gully (after the poled track goes to climbers right) to the summit of Smithies Peak. Thereafter traverse across to the main summit on or below and left (east) of the ridge crest. A fun scramble with some exposure that avoids the Overland crowds. Peerless weather and great views. | |

| Real easy climb, finding a day when it's sunny is hard, though. The climb is really a scramble up the rocks. Great views of the Tasmanian high country from the top. | |
