Crested tongue penstemon (Penstemon eriantherus redactus)

Crested tongue penstemon is found in the northwest U.S., the central and northern Rocky Mountains, northwest great plains and southwest Canada. The variety redactus is limited to Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. It grows in open forests and grasslands at low to mid elevations. Photo from the Salmon River Canyon, Idaho. May 1999
