Cusick's Paintbrush (Castilleja cusickii)
Castilleja cusickii is a common species in the inland northwest U.S. and adjacent Canada. It is found in meadows and moist mountain slopes. Typically it is all yellow, but sometimes the plants are tinged with red or purple. This plant may be sharing some genes with a red/orange species that is common in the area.
