Hasn't voted | Thanks-- It's such a neat place to visit. By the way, I've found a spot for one of your shots on the Garden Wall page, and I'm still trying to figure out places for one or two more.

Voted 10/10 | Super page Bob- I'm glad I ran across it. I've always enjoyed this part of Death Valley. My favorite is the salt ridges too! Even with all my chemistry classes I assumed they formed as a result of expansion as the salt crystallized, obviously I did not think about it properly- glad I know now. My first trip there was in spring 2005 when the lake was there- in full force. I was sorely disappointed in not seeing the saltpan, and not too comforted at the time by learning I was witnessing a much rarer event. Went back the following November and several times since to make up for it though! It's a wonderful area and great idea for a page. Chad

Hasn't voted | Thanks for checking it out and commenting! Salt pans fascinate me; there are so many interesting patterns and shapes, and the light can be amazing at the right time of day. I sorely wish I had seen the lake.
